A Bitch Pt 1 Report
24th March 2008
Judge: Dyane L Jones
Ring Steward: Bea Benton
Scoreboard: Kate Hughes
49 entries, 27 booked in, 22 worked, 5 training rounds, 5 broke stays & 17 did scent
My thanks to Sheilagh & her committee for the invitation to judge, my thanks to Sheila Farris & her Stay team, who deserved medals for sticking it out in the somewhat cold weather. Thanks to Shaylers for the very welcome hot meals.
Special thanks to Bea who was volunteered by her mum to steward for me & a brilliant job you did too, faultless & also to Kate for keeping a pristine scoreboard & my scoresheets in order - even if I did forget to ask you for them at the end of the day (a very very senior frozen brain moment for me!)
Thanks to the competitors for not keeping us waiting too long - we did have a few waits, but caused by stays in other classes on the whole & not handlers not wanting to work.
My two leading bitches going into the stays both moved, but I know one handler was very pleased with the ring work which was the best I have ever seen from them.
Some nice bitches messed up a bit in scent to put them out of the placings, but this was a nice class to judge & I actually got home in the daylight.
Enough of the waffle on to the best bit the results
1st Mrs L Jackson & Tambuzi Trick O’Treat. BC. Losing 1.5 (1 HW & 0.5 recall) What a super girl Lily is very minor bits & bobs, held a lovely straight heelwork position, clear retrieve & scent. She was a clear winner here. Her second A I understand, good luck for the 3rd it can’t be far away. Nicely handled.
2nd Mrs S Gardner & Redruth’s Little Fizzer. WS. Losing 4.5 (3 HW, 0.5 recall, 0.5 retrieve, 0.5 scent) Fizz lost 3 in heelwork for a very strange stop on the 1st about turn & then went back to hold a lovely position again (that’s dogs for you). I’m sure she won’t be long in A. Nicely handled
3rd Mrs A Carpenter & Springtime Rockin Rainbow. WS. Losing 5 (1.5 HW, 2 recall, 1.5 scent) Another bitch who holds a nice straight heelwork position & only minor faults in the other exercises. A really WAT in recall moved you down the placings. Well handled
4th Miss J Bird & Kestrel Spirit. WS. Losing 5.5 (4 HW, 1 recall, 0.5 retrieve) Kesi held a nice straight heelwork position, just came of the leg here & there. A clear scent put you into 4th. Nicely handled
5th ARO Mrs V Moss & Dorvale Maid Welcome. BC. Losing 6.5 (4 HW, 1 recall, 0.5 down stay, 1 scent) Tara won the run off by doing a clear recall. Another bitch who worked in a straight position, but came off the leg in HW. Not much else to mark really. Good handling
6th ARO Mrs L Collins & Gypton Just a Genius. WS. Losing 6.5 (3 HW, 1.5 recall, 2 scent) Genie lost most of the heelwork marks on the first stretch across the ring, once she had done the first turn she settled in & held a lovely position, the rest of the marks were for just small faults. Another nicely handled bitch
7th ARO Mrs A Dowd & Corneroak Golden Grace. G Ret. Losing 6.5 (3 HW, 1 recall, 0.5 retrieve, 2 scent) Grace is a very stylish HW bitch, but did crab at times which lost marks both in heelwork & recall. Only just 2 years old & has a good future ahead of her. Nicely handled
Also worthy of a mention, Margaret Bradley & young Dara. Dara has the most super attitude & has style & drive as well. I know you were pleased with her especially as she did the scent.
Congratulations to Glen (Bluella Son Of Woodie) & Fred on winning Pre B dog & being placed in Beginners & also to Oliver (CKCS) & Kate for managing to be 3rd in Pre B dog & also placed in Beginners.
