SHOW REPORT

First Championship Show - Sunday 1st February 2004

Bitches - Sheena Kilsby

I was honoured to be invited to judge Bitches at this clubs first Ch Show at Bretby Conference Centre Burton on Trent. Thanks to the exhibitors for a lovely entry of 159 Bitches.
Although there was many quality bitches to choose from in most of the classes, the older bitches I felt had the edge over the youngsters in both conformation and movement. Be careful in your breeding programmes as I felt that shoulders could be better. There were quite a few short steep upper arms resulting in restricted forward reach when gaiting. Also drive from the rear end needs a good croup of correct length and slope, also a good bend of stifle.
Many exhibits lacked muscle which will also inhibit correct movement.

Minor Puppy Bitch 10/0 abs.
1. V Moss’ DORVALE MAID WELCOME Just 6 months so still quite a baby. Very pretty head and ears. Well-angulated shoulders and hindquarters, good backline. Came into her own when moving, she is very sound coming and going and her side gait showed excellent reach and drive. One to watch for in the future.
2. H Turner's LOCHEIL LOOK AT GINGERBELL 6 month b/w, another lovely type and so pretty. Good head and ears, very well made all-round, just needs to get her act together on the move.
3. G Brown's SHEPWOOD ZOE'S REASON

1. Jefferson & Hornsby’s BEKKIS DULCIMER A quality tri-colour 10 months old, very glamorous and eye catching. Very pretty head and expression alert and responsive to her handler. Well handled and presented. BPIS
2. H Turner's ROSARA VA VA VOOM AT LOCHEIL An excellent b/w 9 month old. A very pretty bitch of quality. Excellent construction, very sound mover with ground covering side gait, just needs to be more settled on the move that will come with experience. Close up to one.

1. A Hamilton’s BRIDGEBANK A TOUCH OF LOVE 14-month b/w. This bitch caught my eye immediately and I was not disappointed on closer examination, Beautifully constructed, excellent shoulder angles and back line, ideal body length, ex hindquarters, correct croup and turn of stifle with neat little hocks. Her side gait is excellent when taken at the correct pace for her, that is, not too fast!! Very sound coming and going, in excellent coat and condition. I was pleased to award her the Res CC and will watch for her progress with interest.
2. S Beaumont’s TONKORY YORUBA AT BORDERBEAU 16-month b/w A very glamorous young bitch of good construction. Pretty head and expression, ex ear carriage, good neck, shoulders with strong back line and hindquarters. Good sound movement all-round but not quite the side gait of my first.

Forster-Cooper’s SHELTYSHAM SUCH A DREAMER 6yrs old B &W who I have long admired and previously placed 1st at Crufts in 2000, she is a very pretty eye catching, feminine young lady who has matured into something special. Beautiful standing, her construction is superb, everything being so correct in all respects. She came into her own on the move, her correct construction producing movement to die for so reminiscent of her mother Sh.Ch. Sheltysham Saucy Sue to whom I have also given a ticket.
